Resources (Click Here for Help NOW)

Girl Body Pride is about every little bit of ourselves that needs love, healing, and encouragement. Our essays run the gamut from eating disorders and body image issues to depression, anxiety, and all else that may fall under the umbrella of mental health.

We have our good days and we write about those.

And we have our bad days. We write about those, too.

Recognizing that we are not alone in our struggles can be a source of comfort for many. But sometimes we need more. With that in mind, Girl Body Pride is committed to building a resource page of web sites, organizations, and help lines for you, for us, and for our friends. If you need help, seek it out.

If you just need to talk, email me at or take advantage of the community forum. Most importantly, remember that you are not alone.

Eating Disorders and Body Image

In October of 2000, The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness (The Alliance) was created as a source of community outreach, education, awareness, and prevention of the various eating disorders currently plaguing our nation. The organization’s aim is to share the message that recovery from these disorders is possible, and that individuals should not have to suffer or recover alone.

Project HEAL was co-founded in 2008 by three teenage girls to raise money for others suffering with eating disorders but unable to afford treatment. Liana Rosenman, Kristina Saffran, & Becky Allen met while undergoing treatment for anorexia nervosa, helped each other to reach full recovery, and then wanted to help others achieve it as well. Additionally, and equally important, Kristina and Liana have expanded Project HEAL’s mission by serving as mentors and consultants with the hopes of diminishing the societal obsession with body image that often contributes to eating disorders.

Violence UnSilenced is the result of a grassroots movement born of bloggers banding together to support one another. Survivors do not need to be blog authors to submit a piece to VU, and many of the readers do not have blogs, either; however, personal blogging is fundamentally community based and we who are active in the blogosphere can harness our power together. Violence Unsilenced is based on the foundation of the healing power of sharing our stories.
